View Full Version : Load Level Issues

Could this be a load level issue that could be the reason for poor download speeds right now?

Your poor download speed on the evidence you presented could be due to poor upstream SNR. You've picked up a noisy part of the spectrum but it has remained at 16QAM rather than going to QPSK which is less prone to noise.

Otherwise very little to go on.

Crystal ball is broken I'm afraid.

Noise not a problem else ASM would have kicked in and dropped upstream down to QPSK - it monitors SNR and error rates :)

If you are having an issue call in as that looks fine but unless we can connect direct we cannot be sure.

Not sure what you mean by connect direct? the speed seems fine now from last night, but like I say this happens frequently when my download speed no matter what it is can be very slow. I also say that this config was like this at one point late last night and still I had the download speed slow, but it seems to be back ok for now.

Did you try to connect last night or early morning and found you couldn't?

He wouldn't try to connect. The tech suppoert will when you ring in and have verified your details.

I understand, I just was confused when Masque said "but unless we can connect direct we cannot be sure."

What do you call 'very slow' just out of interest?

Probably is load related, you're on a different downstream and upstream now so have been moved by the load balancing.

54.0kb - 100kb per second

Are you saying this due to my second round of modem stats that I posted?

This is my speeds right now using I.E with no proxy, so quite happy for the moment.

Your stats clearly show the different channels.

Yes, but I noticed that even when these newer stats were showing I still had slow download speeds last night, not just now I hasten to add as per my latest speedtest result.

That speed is too low, probably not congestion in that case.

Hi, it's been raised over at virgin community, so will see what they say about it.
