Since Wednesday I have been losing my connection to the internet. On the Virgin Modem, when internet is lost I have the sync button pure green, ethernet pure green...but the "ready" button will flash. Until this stops flashing it will not work. Originally i thought it was the Virgin Media modem that needed replacing...but now I'm not too sure..could this just be a problem with virgin Media in my area (Leeds)?

I'll also point out that when this happens I also lose interactive services on my cable TV, and a light also flashes on the V box.

Can anyone enlighten me on this situation?

Head over to 192.168.100.1 copy and paste your upstream and downstream hiding your MAC address, password and username will be "root" if it asks.

Im guessing your upstream will be higher than 55db

You are losing your upstream, you need a tech to visit so phone TS.

Good luck.

Downstream Modulation : QAM64
Downstream Symbol Rate : 6952 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps12Increment17
Downstream Receive Power Level : -7.8 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 36.1 dB

Cable Modem Upstream
Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Channel ID : 4
Upstream Frequency : 37500000 Hz

@ jb66 Yes it seems my upload is higher than 55db, is that bad?

I have an engineer coming tommorow so I'm sure it will be resolved then.

Downstream Receive Power Level : -7.8 dBmV

Upstream transmit Power Level : 61.0 dBmV

The agent did the right thing booking an engineer as both levels above are out especially the Upstream.:)

Thanks for the quick reply's and help. Engineer came today and confirmed the problem was the upload which was at 61 dBmV. He went to the top of the street and did something in the Green boxed unit. I now have 51 dBmV upload which I assume is perfect and now I hopefully wont have any more problems.

Is it working better now as the downstream is actually lower than your original post.

Is it working better now as the downstream is actually lower than your original post.

It's been ok for several hours till 5 mins ago. It went down for 2 mins , but has come back on again and is fine now.

I would hate for it to go down again later tonight and be stuck till Monday with the same problem.

-8 is pushing it, not sure how it ended up lower, it should be okay but would have liked it closer to zero

It is odd for it to have dropped especially with the downstream now fine.
