The broadband will be activated by the engineer, you would need to connect the modem to a wireless router if you want to connect via wireless to you PS3 but you would need the router connected directly via a cable to set up a password on it, you may be able to do this via the PS3 browser and just connect to the router through that although not sure

You'll usually need a computer to configure your router because this is done in your web browser and (unless there's some mysterious parts of the ps3 i don't know about) you'll certainly need one to set up security for the network - maybe you could borrow a laptop?

However, you'll be able to do the same things to get the connection up and running - e.g. enter your WEP code found on the router - via the PS3 platform. There's a step by step here: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectwireless.html

Another thought, just thinking about it, you prob won't be able to monitor broadband usage on PS3 which isn't a massive problem because VM is unlimited but you might fall foul of their fair use policy more on this here: http://www.chooseisp.co.uk/broadband-guide/articles/broadband-fair-use-policies-exposed-and-explained.html

No, You dont need a PC, you will get a hub that has all the security settings and wireless passwords in place (WPA). The engineer will have to call up to get the modem activated or he could use an iphone or similar
