Would I need to get a new installation disk from VM if I get a new PC running windows 7. Also could I still use my current modem. Cheers for the help

If it's a modem connected via ethernet then you don't need one, if USB then look at swapping it over for ether net as USB will restict your top speed to about 8Mb

For ethernet just connect up the cable, reboot the modem and make sure that your NIC is set to obtain an address automatically

Just follow the instructions above from Kymmy as we no longer supply the set up disk and I doubt that it would work with W7 as it struggled with Vista at times.

You are on 10Mb and that modem is fine for that speed.

250's are capable of 20mbps :) so even an upgrade wouldnt prompt a modem switch.

Daydreamer, all you need to do when you get the new PC is to power down the cable modem, move the ethernet from old PC to new, power up the cable modem until the sync and ready lights are on steady then power up the PC.

The present modem I think is ok for 100Mb but we will know once they start the rollout.
