Any ideas why? Just ran a speedcheck after the service was installed as well as giving it a few hours and it's still between 5 & 6 when it should be around 40. Gonna need some inspiration from you lot to fix this one :p:

First let's get some more info, how are you connecting? What operating system are you using? Have you rebooted your modem?

What's your upstream and downstream stats from 192.168.100.1

..which units are you using since you don't quote any? Mb per second or MB per second?

Should be 50Mb, it's running between 5 and 6 Mb/s as indicated on speedtest. jb - Windows 7 via a wired connection to the included router (trying to install the d-link adapter but that keeps aborting mid-installation after i've plugged it in the installation continues then tells me it's been installed but I may not be associated to a router/access point ?). Modem has been rebooted yes. Stats from that link are included below:

Is it possible I've been bandwidth throttled by VM at their end due to a f up? Service was only installed today. Tried instructions in this thread which got the router to install ok, still trying to get the adapter to make me go wireless though.

Your power levels are too high, either call 150 going through the fault section or post on http://community.virginmedia.com saying that there is problem with your power levels. They will have to get an engineer out to you to boost your power levels a bit as they should be between -5 and +5V.

That should in turn fix your problem in no time. I used the website above and got a response by them in a few days and had an engineer out sharpish. Yeah the forum can be a bit slower due to how many replies they have to deal with, but I rate that site better than their CS*.

Thanks side will try that and report back. Anyone got any ideas about the wireless issue?

To be honest, until they fix that issue I do not see a problem. With the higher power levels it can mean your connection is not stable and does not get the proper speed.

Do you use their Wireless N Router? If so you should be fine. That should be able to put out upto 300MBit/s and you just need to have your wireless devices able to sync to the 802.11n (Wireless N Standard).

For the moment though just see about getting an Engi out to deal with them power levels.
