View Full Version : Virgin Hub?
Hi all what is this Hub ive seen Masque and others mention? is it new kit?
Nick
VM are stopping issuing seperate modems and routers, and have started to switch to routers with modems built in. Much like a lot of ADSL ISPs already use.

So what happens if new customers select the "No Thanks" option when ordering then?

Nothing. That is something that's been picked up and will be amended

Does that mean that VM are at last actually listening to customers? Will seperate modem/router be a future option?
No, I mean the website will be amended to remove the 'No Thanks' option for orders where it's not needed
The Hub is here to stay

Some would say that is not an improvement.
Me-it makes no difference.

what's with calling it a hub when it's a router bt does it to
BT called their all in one device the 'Home Hub' so why can't we call ours a Hub too?:D

what's with calling it a hub when it's a router bt does it to
Because it is not a router! It's a modem/router combined.

it's still not a hub
It's not, and I suspect that may just be a mistake by the OP.

Does the name really matter? It's one piece of kit instead of two.

Only if you are on a different forum. This is a cable one. As jb66 says - let's move on.

I like a rouem please..accent over the e, with a view

Maybe you should complain to Virginmedia direct then as they quite clearly refer to it as a Hub in the links below, also while your at it contact BT and complain about their Home Hub.:D

Of course its a hub.
A Hub - a center around which other things revolve or from which they radiate; a focus of activity.
Sounds like a good name for joe public to understand to me. Would it be wrong to call the centre of a wheel a hub just because it also applies to a piece of networking kit.
Lets move on.
yup, I agree with zippy..george..oh..jonnymeg :D

Obviously you are the "Apprentice"
It Is NOT a router. It is a modem/router combined and is the "Hub" of your internet connection.
OK, enough. Can we stop arguing about the definition of Hub and get back on topic?
