Recommended MTU?

Hi Everyone, going to keep this short and sweet :-)

I'm having a few problems with an online game, and was recommended to change my MTU to what my ISP recommend. Well I know for a fact if I call my ISP they won't know what an MTU is and send an engineer out to fix the problem, who will say everything's fine and leave it at that. So I thought I'd ask you knowledgeable chaps :-)

What does Virgin Media recommend the MTU in your router is set to?

1500 is recommended but try dropping it to 1458 and see if it helps.

Based on what Chris, just curious is all :), Ive tried setting my ps3 to every conceivable mtu and the best results are had at 1500.
