Downstream Receive Power Level : 9.2 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 42.0 dB

Upstream transmit Power Level : 36.0 dBmV

a engineer has been booked for monday to sort out power levels but that is only high cuz an engineer came out a few weeks ago and took off those power level reducer things.

don't understand why VM can't solve the utilisation out, or move me onto docsis 2.0/3.0

Your Downstream is a little high but should not be causing such slow speeds as you posted so the issue must be elsewhere.

We do not use Docsis 2 and only 50Mb clients only are on Docsis 3.

It may be a network issue and the engineer will check it when he arrives.

Engineer came over today, sorted the power levels out, installed a new modem and since then it's rock solid 20mbit.

still want compensation for the 2 years of appalling service.

Great. It's been a long haul with you on the VM forum.

Hope it holds.

The stories I've seen about compensation usually involve payment for a month which can be repeated if the problem is verified to continue. I really can't see them coughing up for two years worth of problems. You should have hammered them harder from the start. I certainly would have risked returning to the train crash that was my BT phone line if VM had screwed me around anything like that long.

your best bet would be to write a letter explaining the situation and that you feel you should be compensted for the last couple of years bad service... they may take a while to get to it (up to 6 weeks), but when they do you will be treated fairly :)

There are better brains than mine that are on this forum. But I'd say there's something going on in the downstream - like you're being switched DS channels.

If I recall correctly, you upgraded from 10 meg to 20 meg. That means you're on the overlay network along with the 20 meg users. I believe the UCD message occurs when you've been assigned a bonded channel and the CMTS wants to claim it back.

As I said, something's going on and I hope it's just transient.

Yes you do, it's all over the network both for capacity relief of congested ports and pre-uplift capacity. It's been live, not trialling but live, on the network for 6+ months now. ;)
