Its a new series starting shortly. Its made by HBO and its like the Sopranos set in the US prohibition era and featuring the original mobsters Lucky Luciano and Al Capone.

Cheers for that Punky. Sounds good. I like the style of that era, might be worth a watch.

Damn you, I wanted to start this thread! :p: :)

In addition to being made by HBO (itself usually a good indicator of quality), its Executive Producer is Terence Winter (an award winning writer of The Sopranos).

The cast includes Steve Buscemi and The Wire's Michael Kenneth Williams (Omar).

The US première is the 19th of September. I'd assume that Sky will be showing it at some point, thanks to their HBO deal.

Well I just watched this and I thought it was very good. It was on for 70 minutes though. I thought it was all excellent. The sets, the music, the acting and the writing. I'll be watching it next week.

The music?..I hope they don't sing in the show :)

Nope, but the background music is used quite a bit.

After only one episode, this has has already been renewed for a second season :)

That's what I like about HBO - they like to take risks and renew shows before it even airs.

I didn't think it was that good. Just didn't have a good... 'feel'. The language, acting, story, etc.

I'll stick with it though.

p.s. I do like Stephen Graham but what ever accent he tries to talk in he always sounds like a scouser.

Despite winning Best Series and Best Actor (Buscemi) at the Golden Globes, Boardwalk Empire lost out at the Emmys, with its only win being for Best Directing for Scorsese for his Pilot episode.
