New TV series from AMC, premièring on Halloween (yes, I know it's a couple of months away, but the trailer is out now :) ).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_%28TV_series%29

The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the country in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group's desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive.

It's based upon the ongoing comic of the same name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead), and has been brought to TV by Frank Darabont (Shawshank, Green Mile) and Gale Anne Hurd (Terminator, Aliens).

Why do Americans have this fixation for zombie movies and shows. Most of them are diabolically bad.

I wonder how this will fare on a scale of 1 to 28 Days. :)

This starts in just over 1 week :)

Although, for those who may want to check it out early, a pre-air version of the pilot has been leaked...

It's a pre-air version, very fuzzy - like you, I'm waiting for the HD version on FX-HD.

Apparently this phenomenon has manifested itself in the town of Morecambe, because (rumour has it) they don't bury the dead there - they stand them up in bus shelters. :D

Sigh.............................!

Faster than dawn of the dead, slower than 28 days later.

Season finale?

The episode broadcast in the US on Sunday night was episode 8, the first episode of the second half of season 2... there are another 5 episodes left in season 2 (total of 13).

Ahh my bad. When the first part of S2 finished epguide was only showing ep8 so I assumed  it was the end of that season.

Never mind another 5 to watch then :)

I enjoyed it, lots of people died and it sets itself up for next year, wherew they will no doubt be encamped in the prison.

The episode itself was pretty good I suppose, they needed something to shift them out of the farm (although I'm not sure why they didn't choose to return there a few days later) but the last 10 minutes where they've tried to turn Rick heel just didn't work for me. I still had sympathy for him as it was Shane who drove him to make the decisions he'd made. I was hoping for a much more dramatic finish. OK there's great potential in series 3 but i want to know more about what happened at the time of the outbreak. The twist about them all being infected was good and made sense but I just want to see what happened to humanity at the time it started.

Hershel made references to 'losing his farm'.

I can see them or at least a small group of them going back not to stay though.

Maybe but I doubt it,

of interest to me though, at the start of the episode when the herd started moving, a helicopter flew overhead. Which suggests there is still some kind of authority, be in military or otherwise, in operation?

That was a flashback to when the outbreak began. I read it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, I believe.

They didn't make that very clear in the episode.

But you're right it is the same one Rick saw in the first series, explaining that it took weeks for that herd to get to the farm.

Although the Helicopter will return in S3.

Looks like David Morrisey has bagged the part of "the governor" on S3.
