Windows 7 network settings?

Is it possible for a trojan to change my network settings? I keep getting a flashing ready light on an Ambit 256 and looking at the network settings it says Network 3 (Home network) then to internet. I have one computer connected to one modem, no router/ other connections.

Mine says 'Multiple Networks' then Internet.

That's because I have virtual VMWare adaptors installed. Do you have more than 1 network adaptor or have you had 3 tries at installing your network?

Had the same problem with my Ambit a couple of months ago. Turned out to be a signal level issue. Check out the sticky thread on the Internet Forum page about Modem Signal Levels to see if you are within limits.

I recently had one changed my DNS settings.. Use HIJACKTHIS to check your DNS settings in the registry and if there you'll have to manually search/delete.. If they re-appear then a program like malwarebytes or S&D will sort out the problem, with me it was a little EXE being called from the task scheduler..

if nothing then you might want to do a scan anyway using the programs mentioned above and if nothing found then it could be someone as simple as update programs running ;)

OK I tried HIJACKTHIS and I'm not sure of what it tells me, I looked up one and it was a Microsoft file that was OK.

The ready light is behaving itself today so fingers crossed.
