We have an old Acer laptop travelmate 2410 XP/sp2 and it runs well and fast without virginmedia security installed.

As soon as I install the virginmedia security (after a lot of problems, it wants XP/sp3 installer etc) the laptop is unusable because it is too slow.

Can anyone please advise what to do?

It requires Windows XP Home or XP Professional 32-Bit with Service Pack 2 with 256 MB of RAM, 500 MB of free hard disk, 300 MHz or faster processor.

If your machine is below this specification it will struggle to run Virgin Media Security.

You may be better if it is an old machine running any of the other free security suites like AVG free (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/256%20MB%20of%20RAM,%20500%20MB%20of%20free%20hard %20disk,%20300%20MHz%20or%20faster%20processor).

Thanks M.

It will not let me install unless I get windows 3.1 installer installed. So will try one of the other free porograms.

Pleased to report that my old laptop with XP/sp2 is now running like a greyhound with Microsoft Sec. Essentials. (had to get the windows 3.1 installer download first, but everything went smoothly)

So Virginmedia ought to do something about their security program, it was taking minutes to perform simple movements with their program installed.
