It's just a configuration file update, nothing to worry about as it's just Virgin getting modems ready for network changes or fixing bugs.

Signal levels can move for many reasons, be it weather or changes at the other end. If they become out of spec and you have issues then a technician can fix it free of charge. If it goes out of spec but you have no issues, don't worry about it. Some modems handle it better than others.
