Evening all.

I had 50mb installed today, so got the black shiny new modem and the D-Link wireless N router (which the engineer said I had to set up - surprised me a bit).

Anyway, I used to have a 20mb connection, and that would max out on usenet so I could get around 2.3mb/sec download rate according to altbinz.

I was expecting to at least hit 5mb/sec today once 50mb had been installed, but I can't get anything above 3.5mb-ish and on the odd occaison it will hit 4mb/sec.

Here are my downstream stats:

and here are the speed check results from the CF50MB test.

Is this what I should expect? I dont want to sound picky, but I am disappointed with the speeds so far.....

Thanks for any help.

Downstream Power Level (dBmV)

12.71 12.31 12.75 13.08

Way to high and the engineer should have checked before leaving the premises just compare them with this Sticky just click HERE (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/34896851-post3.html)

You need to call the 50Mb Support Team on 0800 052 0431

I would recommend waiting until after 0800 on Monday morning for a UK agent.

This the Speedtest that we would use http://www.virginmedia.com/testmyspeed/manual.php

Thanks. I assume the high powerlevels will impact on performance?

Using that link, and downloading 4 files at a time, I get around 2.4mb/sec down so around 20mb connection.

Edit - I watched the engineer the whole time, and not once did he check power levels (unless it was on his handheld device).

Yes to high will have detrimental effect so call on Monday and they will send out an engineer to sort it for you.
