It depends on what kit they use in your area, if you have 4 downstreams you are connected to a Motorola BSR and if you have 3 downstreams then you are connected to a Cisco uBR.

Masque, why do Motorola have 4 and Cisco have 3 though? Different speeds?

Wigan is ex Telewest if I rcall correctly. I believe most or all of ex Telewest use 3 downstreams on 50Mb.

As said Igni is the one to confirm this though.

uBR's and BSR's are in both NTL and Telewest areas, just depends what kit they used.

Intresting thread, you learn something new every day!

I've only got 3 and i'm in an ex Telewest area, not seeing the full 50mb yet though unfortunately. :(

If you have an issue with speed call the 50Mb Support Team tomorrow after 0800 on 0800 052 0431.

Thanks for the prompt reply mate,

I'm in direct contact with somebody from networks who is working hard to resolve my issue. He's just moved me to a different UBR today, but i'm still only downloading at 1.4MB/s unfortunately. As a new customer though, I can't fault the service from everybody at VM. :)
