Hello. Today I had the 50MB package installed (this was around half one) and right now the speeds are rather inconsistent -- is this to be expected?

Test 1: 2048K took 416 ms = 4923.1 KB/sec, approx 39385 Kbps, 38.46 Mbps
Test 2: 2048K took 455 ms = 4501.1 KB/sec, approx 36009 Kbps, 35.17 Mbps
Test 3: 2048K took 503 ms = 4071.6 KB/sec, approx 32573 Kbps, 31.81 Mbps
Test 4: 4096K took 1538 ms = 2663.2 KB/sec, approx 21306 Kbps, 20.81 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 32318 Kbps, 31.56 Mbps

Version 1.51 : To repeat this test from the source server click here.

Thanks.

no not really should be a bit higher. login your modem and post your stats on your modem 192.168.100.1

The speedtest is only a rough guide, you would have found had you repeated the test it probably would show you were getting the 50mb speed you paid for, another might have shown a bit more of a drop, results fluctuate every minute of the day sometimes good, sometimes not so good. If its consistently low then there could be a problem.

Also the speedtest 80Mb will probably be a cached file result, can happen at times and should in now way be taken as a real result

Upstream power level to high and will need a tech.

The upstream power level at 58.21 is rather on the high side and I'm surprised the engineer let it at that.

As regards the 50M speed test on this site, it has never returned more than 22Mb for me, so it could have a problem.

If you use speedtest.net always use the London server.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I tried downloading a game from that page and I was getting 5-6 MB/sec for one then 3-4 MB/sec for another then back to 5-6 MB/sec.

About the engineer, he came in, installed it and then left, he never checked anything. :erm:

I'll give them a call about the upstream power level and hopefully that'll fix it.

Thanks again. ;)

Yeh Masque, I use that if I'm ever in doubt and usually get an average of 6MB over 3 files which seems fair enough to me.

IMO the speed test on this site is flawed for 50Mb for what ever reason. I'd like to know if any 50Mb user gets a good result from it.

I think I'll open a thread on it.

Phoned earlier and an engineer will be out on Saturday to fix this.

My new thread is purely about the speed test available on this forum marked as Speed Test (50M) and the reliability/veracity of it.

You could use it as a benchmark for each poster to see if the is any variation between the 2 tested sites.

Engineer came today and brought it down to 51.75, which he said was fine.

I'm guessing this is okay then?

That is within "spec".
