Hi,

Looking for a HDD (Hard Disk) Freeview recorder, as I have just cancelled my SKY subscription...

Specs as follows:

Twin Tuner
Easy to Use Planner / TV Guide
Series Link
Decent Amount Storage
Reliable unit!
Poss. iPlayer feature?

Humax keeps getting mentioned, but if so which one and are they any good... I know that SKY's guide and series link is very easy to use and so has anyone created anything simular? Has to be wife friendly!

One last point... are their any HD versions now too for freeview, so you can what ITV HD and BBC HD etc too? Dont want to spend £££ on a non HD version, only to find for a tad more you can get a HD version!

Thanks and welcome any feedback - advice! ;)

Welcome to the forum

I've moved your post to the Freeview section so that more relevant people will view and hopefully help you out

As you've cancelled Sky, I assume you've got a working dish. If so, you'd be better off looking for a Freesat rather than Freeview recorder. Freesat has more HD channels, and more bandwidth to carry future HD channels.

Freesat (http://www.freesat.co.uk/)

ElReg did a review (http://www.reghardware.com/2010/05/20/grouptest_freeview_hd_set_tops/) of Freeview HD boxes recently. But the coverage is limited currently and you will need a very strong freeview signal.
As Daniel says, if you've still got your Sky dish & cables Freesat HD might be the better option. There are several Freesat DVR reviews (http://search.reghardware.com/?q=freesat&site=2&sort=rel) on the Reg as well.

Doesn't some of the freesat boxes also have iplayer (via an internet connection????)

I think Chris will probably answer that one
