My friend had to ring Virgin as her Wireless Signal went & only worked 1 foot away from Router. They sent her a new one. Arrived yesterday.

Is it just a case of Unplugging old, replace NEW & reboot Modem & then plug Router in?

No CD to install or anything? Then edit the Security code if she can?

I'll have to try & talk her over the phone...

Cheers

D-Link Router & Modem ReBooted...

Network cable connected to Laptop & works 100% ok. Remove cable & try Wireless Connection & Windows 7 no Wireless available.

Any ideas before I ring Virgin??

could it be a problem with the wifi on the machine?

Have you tried a different broadcast channel? also try it without security

Where would the settings be for the D-Link to try different Channel or No Security? Not familiar with the D-Link Router.

Also if I swap Channel, do I have to edit setting on Laptop? or it auto finds?

Login using 192.168.0.1 the username is admin and the password is left blank, then chose wireless settings on the left and the manual setup option and you are on the SSID page/Channel selection page.

Been on phone for 60+ min, they re-setup the Router & got the WPA Passcode. Edited the Channel & a few other bits. But the Wireless drops in & out. On the laptop the Wireless LED is Orange.

Tried 2x Laptops so cant be the Toshiba at fault.

Any other options?
