Hi All

Just new to forums and looking for a bit advice or help please.

Since last Thursday I have been losing connection anywhere between 10 mins and 30 mins once connected, started off with my Xbox live keep disconnecting but just thought it might have been a xbox live problem, but same thing happening with my pc too, if it goes off and I reset the modem it will come back on and stay on anywhere between the times mentioned above, I only use direct ethernet connection from my modem to my PC and same when Im using Xbox, Im from the Sunderland area and on 10mb connection and have checked service status and all comes back good, changed ethernet cable but still the same been with VM for 2 years and had no such problem till this, Could it possibly be a problem with the modem, any tests or anything I can do.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Simon

Downstream Receive Power Level : -3.1 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 37.8 dB

Upstream transmit Power Level : 48.5 dBmV

Well that is slightly better than my own above, so any issue must be elsewhere, either network side or possibly with maybe a router if you are using one.

It maybe a good idea to call up and get your connection checked.

Call in on 151 from a Virginmedia phone line or 0845 454 1111 from any other phone.

Ok Thanks Masque,

Just done it again there and had to reboot, not using a router, connected direct fro modem to pc.

Thanks

I would advise calling up ASAP, but at this time of night you may just get offshore even though the are Scottish agents available, you may need to wait until after 0800 tomorrow for a UK agent.

Do I just ask if they can test my connection

Had a enginner come out last Saturday and when he checked upstream power it looked ok (Typical) and just changed the cable, Yesterday my connection was down most off the night and had to keep rebooting modem to get it working for it to disconnect again after 5 mins, check upstream last night and was at 61, too high, all of this is getting to me now as I can't get a stable connection, I have requested more advise on virgin communtity forums and made a couple of calls to virgin and aint getting know where :-(
