Do you think that Docsis version 3 is the final standard for data over cable. Or do you think that there will be a Docsis version 4 with speeds up to and over 1gbit?

Speeds will have to increased but DOCSIS 3.0 enables channel bonding which will give ISP's plenty of room for speed increase so if there is a DOCSIS 4.0 it will be a while in my eyes.

The next plan for data over cable doesn't involve DOCSIS.

ignition can confirm but I think VM still use docsis 1.x for the upstream, so only the downstream side of docsis3 applies to VM's network, and in some areas not even the full 9mbit upload of docsis1 applies it is 4.5mbit.

Yes the DOCSIS upstream is DOCSIS 1.0 or 1.1, if VM had upgrade to DOCSIS 2.0 fully before DOCSIS 3.0 the upstream would have been better.
