I kept just putting this down to different websites, but I have read about and realise i have this issue, and its getting more and more annoying.

when i browse it just hangs alot of the time when you click on refresh or links on pages, its like dial up speeds.

It seems to be documented around the net but i never found a resolution, i have tried opendns but i am sure its not that.

I can get decent to full download if dling a file, just when browsing has this issue

did any of you guys ever have this and or find a resolution?

thanks

I would call the 50Mb Support line on 0800 052 0431 and get them to check your connection.

I am English and part of the 50Mb team so ring the above number and speak to one of us as we have the tools to check your connection.

If it`s Internet Explorer that`s having issues maybe go through the steps here http://support.microsoft.com/gp/pc_ie_intro

What OS/Browser? It could be any number of things, have you run a utility such as CCleaner recently to clear temp files etc? If not you should it`s available here http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

hi, I work in IT so have tried all the obvious, its the same on mac, win7 and xp I have 4 pcs, 3 wireless, 1 hardwired, they all have the same issue. Restarting the router does clear it for 5 mins but then end up the same.

Its basically just a hang when you click on a link when browsing, happening all the time. I run ccleaner on all pcs, i have been through getting the wireless n to work on all and its not relevant to that, only 1 pc i have doesnt run wireless n anyway.

I dont use ie, but it causes the same issue as I have tried it, mainly run firefox but also safari on the mac.

I dont think im the only person having the issues, I am in south mancs area, Ill give the 0800 a go see if i get through thanks

Sounds to me like you have upstream congestion. A pathping to www.bbc.co.uk might shed light on this.

Browsing behaves differently from downloading because of the interactions.

I had my doubts about Seph's suggestion that it was upstream congestion so wanted that to confirm it wasn't the case. If it's extreme enough to hose browsing it's extreme enough to also hose download speeds.

If restarting the router resolves it briefly I'm inclined to blame that. When you are able connect one of your machines directly to the cable modem and see if everything runs as it should at that time.

I have a suspicion that your router is struggling with establishing new NAT sessions / TCP connections. Once established they run fine, hence your download speeds being fine, but on browsing where multiple connections are made to multiple servers your router's NAT table is getting loaded up and then you're having to wait for connections to close and free up space before new ones can be made.

Are any of the devices on your network running a P2P application or indeed anything that may be opening many connections? Especially connections which aren't getting closed promptly so sit in a half-opened or half-closed state soaking up your router's memory.

EDIT: Some routers also allow you to see their memory utilisation and/or open connections. Might be worth checking through your router to see if it reports this.

i do open a lot of sites at the same time, probably 10-20 in different browser tabs so maybe that is the cause, i will check the router now

in regards to utilisation this is all i can find

IP Address TCP Sessions UDP Sessions
192.168.0.102 20 1
192.168.0.100 0 72

NAPT Sessions
TCP Sessions : 20
UDP Sessions : 73
Total : 93

That's a fair bit of UDP. Running a UTP-aware torrent client?

ok ive got rid of those now, what i find is that, it seems to be worse over wireless, if i remotely connect from my mac to my windows xp machine, thats hard wired, and i browse the same websites, ie i am on wireless on the mac, browsing the web, and then on remote desktop to the windows pc browsing same site, it seems to be a problem on the wireless on the mac, but over remote desktop, i dont see the same hangs, its just quite fluent, so maybe its related to wireless setup?
