Did anyone else in Renfrewshire lose their broadband between 2:30pm and 6:45pm today? I had some short periods with no internet on Wednesday and Thursday as well.

The modem log shows this :
downstream and upstream are 38 and 58 dBmV

Time Not Established Time Not Established Critical (3) DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.
Time Not Established Time Not Established Information (7) MAP w/initial maintenance region received

Well, called tech support and they reckon it's power levels that's the problem. What should the power levels be?

Thanks. The engineer replaced my 250 modem with a 256 one. I changed the power supply to a good quality 9v regulated one. Hopefully the problem won't come back.

That could come back to haunt you.Tampering with VM's equipment?

Well, I've changed back to the original power supply. My own one seemed to be overheating.

The problem now is that since getting a new modem, my primary email address at @ntlworld.com has disappeared. I guess I need to use my old ntl broadband install CD that takes me through the registration process.

You don't need an install disc any more and your email address should not be affected, having said that it depends if you use a 3rd party software to download emails.

When the engineer left, I checked my email using outlook express and it could not access the primary email @ntlworld.com. I logged into "my virgin media" okay, but then it reported that my primary email box was not accessible and I should contact tech support. I would call them if I didn't have a phone phobia.

Thanks, I'll wait a few days just in case it's a temporary thing that's causing it.
