Hi,
Is it possible to use a virgin supplied D-link 615 wireless N router with a different ISP on ADSL instead of virgin cable eg Zen adsl?
Would it require firmware upgrade?
Thanks.

I would say no, because cable broadband routers are different to ADSL broadband routers. ADSL BB routers usually act as both the modem and router.
The DIR-615 would work with any connection that has a modem that outputs to an Ethernet port, this includes but isn't limited to Virgin Media cable connections.

Do you know if it is possible to flash the firmware to reset it as a non-virgin router?
cheers

D-Link firmware 4.11 can be installed from the D-Link site but as it is the preloaded firmware is pretty generic and not locked down in any way by Virgin Media.
I've also just read it can run DD-WRT.
If you had an adsl modem it would work
