Hi Everyone,

long time lurker, first time poster. I have come here cap in hand hopping someone can help or point me in the right direction.

My internet has been poor for a few weeks, and it's really annoying. Constant dis connections and very poor speeds. Previously I have been downloading from news groups and been getting a rock steady 20 meg, not I am lucky to get over 3 meg.

I have copied and pasted my modem log to start the ball rolling, removed my MAC address as well. ;)

My internet is 20 meg and it's an NTL 250 modem.

Many thanks in advance for any comments and help.

Many thanks for replying, I work away during the week, but I will post what you have asked for when I get back home on Friday.

I was messing about with Pingplotter last night and virtually every hop was suffering from Jitter, maybe it's over subscription on the UBR? Only time will tell.

Is the slow down during peak times? i.e between 4pm and 12pm

VM don't have the infrastructure to support their broadband customers. That's why they have traffic management. It's an attempt to cram as many users as possible into a limited bandwidth.

Too many other people joining you downloading from the newsgroups perhaps, though more likely upstream congestion problem, bet your pings suck.
