Hi there, I have just phoned to enquire how much extra it would cost to upgrade my VIP package to 50 Mb broadband. I was told it would cost £4.51 extra per month but get a discount of £7 for the first six months. So he said I will be paying £2.49 less than what I am paying now. So I obviously have booked an engineer to get it installed.

Remember that there is an installation and activation charge (though I'm not sure if one of them is free atm)

We did the same and they messed up our bill big time so be carefull.
The 20 meg VIP package was generally about £92 per month but after having 50meg installed the first bill was a whopping £203 so i got on the phone to get that sorted.
Yes there is an install and set up charge, about £55 for the two (i think)

Yes I do have to pay the installation and activation at £55 but still a good deal if they are true to there word.

Thanks for that, I hope so. A question on the installation, will the engineer need to turn on my pc and check it is working. Because I will not be in when they install it, my dad will.

I'm currently on the VIP package, and want to upgrade to 50MB too, so this sounds great. Thing is though, I'm (with any luck) about to start renting a new house, which already has "Telewest" points installed. I should find out if the referencing has gone through sometime this afternoon.

Has anyone got any idea how this is gonna work out in my case? As I understand it, they basically cancel my current contract and draw up a fresh one... so does that mean I qualify for a new install (free atm), or any kind of discounts?

Been with Virgin Media since I moved into my current flat (about 9yrs now), so I wonder if they'll do anything for a loyal customer who's only ever had people out when upgrading.
