I have checked postcodes all around the SO15 district and they are all not available according to the checker, there are a lot of BT poles though.

There are those CATV lids all over the place, around all the roads round here.

What is VM doing?

Which postcodes are you looking at? SO15 is extensively cabled. Try these for example

SO15 0LX
SO15 3ES
SO15 4PH
SO15 5PG
SO15 7QR
SO15 8PH

I didn't know SO15 stretched that far.

I mean more central to the train station.

Some of the Southampton network was built with low-spec components which can't support digital services. Until recently VM marketed these an analogue-only areas, but the analogue TV service has now been turned off in Southampton. Some parts of the network have been upgraded, but I suspect yours isn't one of them.

Oh ok.

So can the analogue network support internet at all? (Didn't NTL do like 10Mb over it?)

Some bits can, some can't. Unfortunately yours can't.

Only annoying thing is BT haven't replaced all the aluminium parts of their network, I should get 20Mb, only 14Mb atm.

Luckily soon I should be moving to a VM digital area
