hello all,

I just wanted to check the following as the different sites I've read have had conflicting information.

I download multiple large files (average 4-5gb per file, around 2-3 times a week) from a client I work with in the States. I normally do this from around 10pm onwards.

Today I had some time free so thought I'd download earlier than normal (started around 3pm) and my normal download speed of 10mb has dropped to 2.2 half way through the download.

I am aware of Virgins STM, I wanted to confirm when they enforce these limits.

On a Virgin M package (10mb) is it between 9am and 9pm? or is it from 9am 'til midnight?

Further, does this mean that if I do all of my downloading after 9pm (or midnight dependent on the answer to the above question) that I will not be throttled or penalised in any way?

Thanks,

Mike

Hello SnoopZ,

Thanks for the welcome :) Also thanks for the url, very helpful.

Just to check then, as that document was updated last in May - STM doesn't apply from 9pm? Is that correct?

Mike

That's correct, you shouldn't get any STM on your M package from 9pm to 10am the next day, however if you accidently trigger STM before 9pm then you will have to wait 5hrs before you get your full speed back.

What you see in Snoopz post is correct as the has not been any change in STM since 12th May 2009.

When I was on 20Mb I used to do all my downloading after 9pm, or just made sure I stayed within the limits between the STM window.
