I'm just interested in how much bandwidth people actually use and which tier they are on. Poll is private so don't be shy :D

Chose 100-300 on 10mb as it covers what i was using with BT albeit only 7mb speed. Was constantly being throttled during peak every month for using over 120GB. I imagine it will be more now i'm on 20mb with virgin and restrictions aren't as harsh outside of day/evening, plus being droppped to 1mb every day between 6pm-11am would have had an impact before on my amount. Or will once the engineer appears to fix the botched install :p

Just looked at my bandwidth usage logs and I am using between 400-600gb a month, that was a bit more than I thought

Since October 2008 I have used a total up/down 6.7tb.

What are you using to measure your usage, and is it free?

:)

Not a clue as I don't monitor my usage as I have no need to. So I guessed at 30-100GB. I'm on the 20Mb connection.

Is this upload and download total?

EDIT: I see it is. Voted, just over 100GB on 50mb

Yes, that's what I meant by total usage.

I use DU Meter. Don't need to monitor my usage but it's nice to see how much I use.

im on 50mb and usually use anywhere between 120 - 200gb a month.

A lot of that usage is downloading music and videos of a friends band who she manages in Manchester and she asks my opinion on them.

Just looked at DU Meter Totals.

Since 1st March ive downloaded 134.2GB and uploaded 10.8GB.

I'm interested in measuring ("give me a ruler, and I'll whip it out and measure it" is my motto), but don't want to pay...i try to suppress the scot in me, thankfully I lose that battle :)

Then try netmeter (http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/), similar to DUMeter except it doesn't give you hourly totals.

I tend to border on the 100GB a month - sometimes over, sometimes under. It's probably moving to more often over than under though thinking about it.

I use less than 5 gig per month and I am on 10 meg teir so I guess I am a low user.

Another option depending on the router is having the router monitor the traffic. Some of the custom firmwares (DD-WRT, Tomato, etc) offer this in the UI with others offering monitoring via (if memory serves) SNMP. (Actually wasn't there something about the older TW modems having that enabled so you could interrogate them too?)

Back when I was on VM "my" usage was quite "light" in comparison for 10Mbit. I imagine the connection saw a few GB pass through it a day easily, it being shared among the flat.

The connection I'm on has an effective FUP of 40GB, and is again shared, so I can't thrash it as much as I'd like. I'd watch a lot more internet TV with an unmetered connection, but at the moment my usage is so light it's a couple GB a month, if that. My gaming 2 nights a week uses barely 20MB.

Okay.
Who's paying for 50Mb and uses less than 30GB a month?
Nutter!!

Mine differs greatly from month to month as it's 2 or 3 of us straining a 20meg connection, I have a VNC session and a VOIP phone going at least 36 hours a week while I'm working, more if I work weekends

That is because I don't care about it :)

Given what a steaming pile of capped, shaped poop it's been for people if anyone could get to the higher levels of usage they've done well.

The results so far are pretty much what I expected given the audience.

XBL+PS3n coupled with WoW & leeching J-Drama puts me at around 100GB down, with whatever regular browsing adds to up.

30-100 GB on 10Mbit

This is spread over a 2 pc's, laptop and xbox 360. Over recent months I am downloading/uploading less and less.

I have no idea..I'll wait for a letter.:)

However as I'm on 10MB I'm not too worried.

I have yet to hit the 1TB mark, despite trying. Highest I ever hit was 864GB if I recall, this month is just over 300GB.

I now have this internal network, I shunted 25GB around it earlier at 100Mb/so DU Meter tends to skew what actually went out via the NIC. I dunno if Tomato works on VM's Dir615...

30-100GB 50Mbit here, used in total 17GB downstream all month so far.

January to March 1.7TB total 90% of which is download. majority of usage is outside of peak hours, mostly 2am - 6am

this can depend on how i feel
a few years ago i could download anything from 200gb upwards and that was on a lower connection.
now some months i might not even hit the 40gb mark and thats with a 50 mrg connection
the diffrence been now i just download what i need to download rather than downloading just because i could in the past

I was surprised when I checked back on the BitMeter stats that I've using 20GB-30GB per month on 10Mb since April 08, had thought it was considerably more. It certainly was a lot more before my sons left home, they regularly ran downloads overnight!

I was thinking about my usage as was thinking after I had a heavy month of downloading there isn't anything else I would need so when looking at the options, I suppose it depends on my last months usage and also whats out.

For those that want to know their usage, Think broadband do a free broadband meter:

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/tbbmeter.html

You can also register on their site to view your usage statistics online.

Just over 300 Gb this month. (296 today - the 27th). On 20 Mb tier.

No torrents - it's mostly iplayer which is how I get my TV. In HD preferably...

P.S. Using Tautology Bandwidth Meter.

Quite amazed that people have 50mb and download less than 30gig. Seems a bit overkill to have that speed.

I probably average about 100-200gb a month.

well before i reinstalled my PC earlier i had a look at what i had used in March...

It was 204.8GB down and 14.7GB Up

All in all 219.5GB last month

Chrysalis

less then 30gig month 20mbit

however as ignition is aware I also have adsl, altogether I probably use anything from as low as 20gig some months up to maybe 50 gig other months.
