hi all i'm a newbie so be gentle with me lol.
Ive had blueyonder/virgin for years no problem with the broadband.
I'm a member of the Volvo owners club gb and they apparantly have changed providers and since then my comp wont even find the site at all it just times out, below is what i got back from the head honcho there

We have found that some people have had problems since we moved to
a new server with a new service provider. I was not aware that
blueyonder was affected

can anyone help please

Exactly how long ago did the club switch providers? It can take up to a week for DNS records to catch up. Your computer relies on Virgin's DNS servers to tell it where to find the Volvo club website. It may simply be that Virgin's servers haven't yet recorded the new location of the servers the club is now using.

I don't know if this help you.

Its a link to the Volvo Forum .... someone there might have some info about the VOC - there is some stuff about registering at the top of the front page.

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/

There is a link to the VOC at the very top of the page - (just checking the link and saw that!!!)

Works fine for me, you may need to use a proxy to access the site so try this link http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/34773822-post18.html

Out of interest, try this:

1) Press the 'windows key' + r on your keyboard
2) In the 'run' box that pops up, type in 'cmd' (Without quotes) and press enter
3) You should now get a black command prompt. In this type 'ping volvoforums.org.uk'
4) Take note of the results and let us know
5) Now try: ping 91.204.208.245 (That's the IP I'm given when pinging those forums)

Let us know the results. Particularly in the first one, let me know the IP it's trying to ping (It'll say: Pinging volvoforums.org.uk [xx.xxx.xxx.xxx] x's being numbers for the IP.

We can see if it's a problem with your DNS or not here.

That's very interesting, it's resolving the IP okay, so it's not a DNS issue. Not sure what's going on here, maybe Moldova or someone else can shed some light on this =-P So a proxy works okay for you?

I've removed a little of the precise detail about your connection from your post - it's safer that way. ;)
