Is that by the wireless conection or Hard wired into router? That you are getting the higher ping.

Is the router doing anything else? Other users for example? Or you're downloading at the same time?

Nope but my pings seem to be up and down when im connected to the router or when connected to the modem as you can see they fluctuate by a few ms i know its not a big problem but just trying to figure out why because my old isp didnt fluctuate at all.

I couldn't glean anything from the ping data becasue they were to different places and I couldn't tell which was with router and without.

The line I was following is that the router is doing stuff. If it's not handling other PCs or data streams, then it could be inspecting packets because ping is turned off (will refuse incoming pings) or because the firewall is on in the router.

Something like that.

Will look into this a bit more, but some fluctuation is quite normal on cable due to how it works.

Regarding the router - go to http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/wan_setup.html and tick Disable SPI Firewall and click apply. For cable with VM it's a pointless option.
