Hi,

I have a 50mb connection. It's ridiculously slow anyway because the street I live on is entirely students and the way the cables were put down in this area was designed for about 1-2 units per house, not 5.

Anyway It's gotten quite slow recently and I had a look at my downstream stats.

Frequency 299000000 307000000 315000000 N/A
Lock Status
(QAM Lock/FEC Sync/MPEG Lock) Y/Y/Y Y/Y/Y Y/Y/Y N/N/N
Channel Id 57 58 59 N/A
Modulation 64QAM 64QAM 64QAM N/A
Symbol Rate
(Msym/sec) 6.952 6.952 6.952 N/A
Interleave Depth I=12
J=17 I=12
J=17 I=12
J=17 N/A
Power Level
(dBmV) -5.20 -5.37 -4.73 N/A
RxMER
(dB) 32.10 32.36 32.81 N/A
Correctable
Codewords 40200 263805 678756 N/A
Uncorrectable
Codewords 556 6055 142880 N/A

I think there is something wrong with the power level here but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Many Thanks.

Yes, IMO the power levels and SNR are low (the power levels because of the SNR). Check that the coax cable is properly screwed in each end andnot kinked.

If all's screwed in OK, those stats should be presented to the support newsgroup to obtain 2nd line support comment.

The students doing their thing is another issue and prolly the principal cause of seriously poor rather then poor-ish speed which your stats would cause.
