View Full Version : Unable to connect to World of Warcraft

I am unable to connect to any of the World of Warcraft realms since 5pm tonight. I have tried both a direct connection to the modem, and via the router. I have also tried two different PC's and one Laptop.

While I can log in to the login servers, and get a list of the realms, when I try to log in to an actual realm, it cannot make the connection. It is almost as if an essential port is being blocked somewhere.

The WoW gameservers require that port 3724 be open for TCP in both directions. Is there a known issue regarding this at the present moment?

When you are trying to get onto the server please enter this command into a DOS prompt:

netstat -an | find "3724"

Let me know what it says.

Thanks!

Yes that's what I thought - you aren't reaching the server, you've set the initial SYN (Synchronisation) but haven't received anything back.

Where does a traceroute to 80.239.179.21 get? Should die somewhere on the Telia network.

OK That's not helpful - checked the WoW forums for reports of issues to the realm? Service status page, etc?

Also worth trying another server in a different Battlegroup.

I'm on Wildhammer and it's been fine if that helps

Certain wow servers went down tonight and have not been back up, maintainance night anyhow give it a rest :).

It wasn't maintainence, as their rolling maintaince starts at 2 or 3am, I lost connectivity at 5pm.

As of 11am this morning - No change. Still unable to connect to any realm (or private servers, I tried out of curiosity). I also ran tcpdump and set netcat listening on port 3724 on my friends colocated server in keyweb's datacenter, Germany, and tried to make a telnet connection to that over port 3724...

it never received any connections from me on port 3724.

Additional: Just connected the modem to the 2nd ethernet port in the PC and rebooted the modem, thereby forcing an ip change. Everything started working normally, again. Except now I'll have to clone that ethernet cards MAC in the router (because the router gets the old IP back) to be able to bring my laptop online again. Not optimal, but it will work I guess.
