Hi All,

I don't know if anyone can advise, but for the last 2 days I have been having some issues with my 50Mb connection.

If I reboot the modem it can take between 2 hours and 7 hours (7.5 hours today) to re-connect. This only started on Friday, prior to this it took a minute or two to reconnect.

50Mb support line want to send an engineer to replace the modem, but I think it's more a network issue. The modem tick light flashes continually, but everything on the modem web pages looks fine (apart from the "Status" section where it seems to get as far as BPI Initialising and then cycles back around through acquiring downstream etc).

While this is happening the V+ box connected to the same cable through a splitter is fine, On demand, red button etc all ok.

Anyone got any ideas? Nothing at all has changed at this side, the modem does eventually connect, but a 7 hour delay is a little silly !

Cheers

T4s indicate downstream problems. Modem goes offline every time it gets one of these

So you need to call the 50Mb Support team but you will need to wait until Monday morning from 0800 if you want a UK agent.

Cheers Moldova,

I've already spoken to them. They have arranged for a tech to swap the modem on Monday, I just thought it maybe a network problem as the T4 & T3 counters only incremented during the periods after restarting the modem, now that it's back online they are still at 85 & 228.

This has literally started happening from Friday. I do usually restart the modem every few days as otherwise browsing gets sluggish.

I won't be around on Monday so the wife will be dealing with the tech, and she's a little pre-occupied at the moment with our 11 week old daughter !

If a swap is needed then fine, it just seemed odd that it suddenly started happening, and once the modem does connect successfully then it's fine.

Thanks again though.

I missed that but it does look like the modem is having power issues possibly if broadbandings reads this he can maybe give a bit more insight as this is his line.
