View Full Version : 50MB Wireless Router
Hi,
Just ordered an upgrade from 20MB to 50Mb and was told I'd get a free "N" Router. I currently have a Belkin pre-n which has served pretty good. What make/model is thye VM router for 50MB?
Thanks,
Gerry
Dlink DIR-615
Thanks,
Does this implement upnp well?. I have ps3 and xbox 360 and dont want to have to **** about manual port forwarding etc to get proper NAT settings.

If I remember correctly, the DIR-615 is problematic on port forwarding. There's stuff on this forum if you search on port farwarding.
Also look here: http://portforward.com/
That router isn't even listed.

It not up to date though e.g doesn't list MW2

Maybe - dunno. But there sure are problems with the DIR-615 in the port forwarding area. Have you searched the forum? There are pages of "port forwarding" threads, some of them directly addressing your question.

to put it simply, I didn't trust VM to send me a decent router so I bought myself a Linksys router (wrt150n) as an upgrade to my wrt54g and it works fabulously

Are you manually setting port forwarding on that or using upnp?
I have 2 xboxes, 1 wired ..
2 ps3 1 wired.
1 wii wireless
1 PC wired.
3 laptops all wireless.
Numerous other things connected.
Not all connected at the same time but my router has had some hammering. And after having quite a few routers the best 1 which cost me a fortune is the DLink DIR-855.
With UPNP on it works like a dream.
gjbxxx.
If you are on mw2 it runs like a dream, i normally get host. LOL

there is a port forwarding table which I can use but I havent had to yet. I do use a lot of progs and play a lot of games but i haven't had any problems with it, that being said, I am a pc gamer and not a console gamer

As your system/network is setup and running, unless you specifically want the VM guys to install the router etc when they come, i'd just swap out the modem initially, and see how thigns go.... then as and when you do change the router, you will have something to compare to, swapping the modem only will work just fine, and should give no deteriation in your setup initially.
