Newsgroup access while away

Is it possible to access the virgin newsgroups when away from home?
There is a password option but it does not work
Or is it as I expect only available on a virgin connection

You can access the text posts only, you'll need your primary user name and password to do so.

I get the message
A News (NNTP) error occurred: Authentication Failed
It may be because I was an NTL customer so my user name is not recognised

ex-NTL and ex-TW user names can be used to authenticate.
