Be careful of reading modem logs, because what happens when you reboot your modem is that every single update for that modem is received at the same time giving you those worrying logs.

Virgin also disable most of the updates as they are not required so making it look even worse.

Just there because modem hasn't been given the time from Virgin yet.

And it can't get the time until it negotiates the connection

You'd think though that once it has negotiated the connection if it can find the right time for the recent log data why not the slightly older time details.

TOD is disabled so it tends to always get that message.

Time of Day, if you clear your logs then reboot your modem you will get similar results to my logs above.

The TOD server is not used on the Virginmedia network hence you get the messages.

Nope it's there, else modem would not be displaying a time on the logs.

So then it must be as Kymmy says.

We never get a message saying that it is on and Virgin insist that it is not used even though it does end up showing a time and date.

They also insist that any of the stuff that they disable is not required even though it may be of benefit to us.

It was always strange when I had my Motorola modem because every time you rebooted it the first dates were always for 1973, which I found odd.

Yeah that's what I did prior to re-setting the modem.

At the next meeting tell them it's needed, lol

It's certainly not worth worrying about either way. However it's doing it the modem is being given the time part way through coming online as is expected behaviour. It has to get a degree of connectivity before it can learn the time.
