Wireless connectivity dropping

Hi

I have a 20mb virgin connection which works great using fixed connection to the netgear wireless router.
when i use wireless the connection drops frequently which is driving me mad
i have tried it on a brand new compaq laptop and a hp nc4010 with the same results
any ideas please ???

Log into the router 192.168.1.1 and change the wireless channel.

The white router login details are virgin/password.
