Im new to this Forum so a big Hi :)

Firstly I was reading around the Forum for slow connections but thought best to actually ask I am sorry if you answer slow connection threads daily!

I seem to be having major problems with my 10 Meg line, during the day it comes down at Max speed and very happy with the connection however come the even it slows down to unbearable speeds...

I have had this connection for years with what was originally NTL and now Virgin obviously so the equipment is still NTL branded.

Router is NTL250 and these are the details;

Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 3
Downstream Frequency : 586750000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM64
Downstream Symbol Rate : 6952 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps12Increment17
Downstream Receive Power Level : 7.2 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 36.5 dB

Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Channel ID : 2
Upstream Frequency : 29200000 Hz
Upstream Modulation : QPSK
Upstream Symbol Rate : 2560 Ksym/sec
Upstream transmit Power Level : 43.0 dBmV
Upstream Mini-Slot Size : 2

How do they look to you? At the moment I am getting around 27 Kb/s download rather than the 1.1 MB/s I get during the day, my Friend next door on the 50 Meg is getting max speed right now so it surely cant be anything to do with the Area?

Cheers for the help!

Can't recall the last time I got 10. 7/8 seems the best these last few weeks.

I'd like to see the power levels and event log for daytime when you get 10 Mbps.

Then for comparison, the evening data when you get c. 1 Mbps.

Also on both times of day, in the CMD window, execute PATHPING www.bbc.co.uk > fred.txt and wait for it to complete (it'll take a few minutes). Ipen fred.txt in Norepad and paste the results here.

The difference between the two will help pinpoint (maybe) the issue.
