View Full Version : How stable is 50 Meg?

Just had it installed on Tuesday and it went down yesterday at around 12pm, I phone VM who tell me I will have to wait till Monday 16th for a tech to come out. (Not pleased). Anyway it's just came back on hence why I'm here asking.... How stable is it.

Do people get cut off alot?

Still annoyed VM where gonna wait 5 days until they could fix it, BT where on the case straight away the last time I had a problem with them.

Never had any problems since installation a few months ago. It may just have been a local outage and nothing to be too concerned about, it's as reliable as the rest of the cable broadband. Only faster.

I had it installed last thurs and have had at least 1 cut of each day ,I had no trouble with 20mb netgear.

Spoke to my mate on Xbox live and he said he gets cut of daily:(

I had my issue with 50meg and India said it would be Monday before someone could come out.

We phoned UK support the next morning at 8am and we had someone out that same day and fixed the problem. He replaced a splitter and the modem in my case. Try UK support early morning is the moral of the story.

Oh lol, I got through to some dude in the 50meg department who was from UK and he said Monday 16th was the earliest. It's back on now by itself but I think I'll still get them to check it out.

To be frank 50 meg is not stable. When it works it's great, I'm pretty much always getting the advertised speed as long as the other server is capable. I've had it since July and I've had complete blackout periods twice, the first one 8 days and the second one is similar and still not resolved. Both times I've forced them to downgrade me to 20 meg which I'm on now.

I can honestly say ive been on 50mb for a number of months and never once had a problem with connection.

I get 5.7MB/sec on Giganew and am loving it!!

Im in Bradford btw.
