I'm currently on 50mb and for the last 3 days my connection has constantly been dropping out, an engineer has just been round and checked everything and said he put a new splitter on?

what concerns me is before he came correctable codewords on the modem information page were between 0-20 and uncorrectable between 270-300 across all 4 downstreams, however now they read:

Correctable
Codewords 137450 94924 104309 102277

Uncorrectable
Codewords 99947 157957 150789 161380

also on upstream my T3/4 timeouts were minimal however since the engineer came which was only aprox 30mins ago i'm upto T3 = 19, and T4 = 7.

is this cause for concern? as he also pretty much out and out said he was a little clueless on the 50mb service.

Thanks for any help/advice in advance :)

Please post your downstream and upstream power levels thank you.

Ooops. 19 x T3 and 7 x T4 in 30 minutes. Your service is moosed and must have been up and down like a whore's drawers in the past half hour.

Please post your downstream and upstream power levels thank you.

RxMER might be more useful for errored codewords.

OP - now it's ok again those may have been caused while the engineer was diddling with your service.

Probably,

thanks for the help :)

Most people post RxMER by default and I was waiting for you to interpret the errors.;)

Oh OK.

T3 = Modem transmitted periodic ranging request but received no ranging response from the CMTS within 200ms, usually due to the CMTS not receiving the ranging request so usually upstream but can be caused by other things.

T4 = Modem did not receive a unicast maintenance opportunity within the 30 second timeout period. For the modem to send a periodic ranging request the CMTS must say 'Hey big boy it's your turn, hit me with your ranging request' and if it doesn't get permission the T4 timer increments. This is usually caused by downstream problems and tends to result in the modem falling offline. To avoid this happening from a brief 'blip' the CMTS does resend these opportunities repeatedly after a failure to see a response before it considers the modem offline and these are usually sent every 10-20 seconds to avoid running the 30 second timer too close. T4 = offline you go.

At 12pm? Nope I'm eating lentil and bacon soup and drinking a cup of tea I'll have you know, and I actually have no alcohol of my own in the house, I have some bottles of alcohol free stuff and that's about all.

I resent the implication most strongly that I have issues relating to alcohol, drinking it comes very easily and is no issue at all!
