View Full Version : 50Mbps ..... for a few seconds....

Hi I recently had 50Mbit installed and I acheieve the full speed on speedtest.bbmax.co.uk

But when on Newsgroups i only get the full 50Mbit for a few mins, before it drops to between 6Mbits and 20Mbits. whats going wrong?

Your downstream is fine how about the Upstream and just post the single upstream figure.

The are no power level issues so the issue must be elsewhere so try calling the 50Mb Support Team on 0800 052 0431.

I take it you are using the europe server that astraweb provide ? I have all sorts of problems downloading outside europe. I had to cancel my rapidshare account becuase of the same problem as you (and corupt downloads aswell) now im using astraweb and the europe server my problems have gone.

I have the same problems.. although not related just to Astra.

When the speed drops to <2MB/s it also seems to affect web browsing too. Images on say the BBC site timeout and take ages to load.

However an hour or so later its back to full speed again.. for a bit.

Have rebooted all the kit and tried multiple machines, all to no avail.

The vm support newsgroup said they could not see any problems and my power levels seem to be within the accepted limits.

So at the moment I'm just living with it :(
