ok so i ring them up and want to change my phone line to virgin
have got the line already installed as was with them a few years ago, so they just need to re connect me
want to upgrade to 50 meg im on 20 at the moment
surely this is only a matter of changing the modem over ?
how can they charge £50 for that ?????
Thanx
It's actually £55 (£35 installation + £20 activation). But the installation fee will also cover reactivation of your phoneline
The only choice you have is whether you wish to pay the £20 part for XXL

£20 activation for someone just to press a few buttons
& £35 for someone to post the modem
They don't post the modem. They send an engineer to install it
You also get a Wireless N router and N USB Adapter
i paid my money
engineer arrived
handed me the modem went back to his van for the router.
he came back i had old modem boxed for him and just needed him to make a call to activate the 50meg modem.
nothing else other than making a call
not worth the money :)
but did sell the router and dongle for 50 quid so not end of teh world

must admit it is tempting to sell the router and dongle . I dont need them .
£20 activation for someone just to press a few buttons
& £35 for someone to post the modem
I did ask for a self-install option when I got 50Mbit but it's not available. An engineer came round and did a proper job of checking signal levels before installing the modem. Mine were fine and the modem worked straight away but not everyone will be in that boat.
