View Full Version : I'm now with Virgin National!
This may seem a bit OTT, but a lot of people have a go at me for not having anything from Virgin I though I'd make this little announcement
As of today I now have a Virgin National account.
Can we now move on
Many Thanks
:D
P.S. It comes with a very nice Netgear DG834Gv5 router

The STM equivalent on National is rather vicious though to say the least, protocol shaped like crazy too.

Damn awful STM though isnt it unless its changed? Do you get your staff discount on that? ;)
It has been changed - although apparently still needs some tweaking based on the thread on the community forum

Still has the hourly throttle though, in addition to the protocol based management doesn't it?
If you're in the top 5% for that hour you get nailed to 512kbps until midnight IIRC.

For now
That it ever did is laughable, and an upstream uplift for XL is still a little way away. Trial of higher upstream on XXL is in very, very early stages still.

well least its changed somewhat how it used to be was awful.
Still has the hourly throttle though, in addition to the protocol based management doesn't it?AFAIK both are dependent on the usage in a customers area. From what I can gather it is quite possible (especially on the LLU stuff) that neither are activated - even during the hours they say - if the usage doesn't cause any capacity issues

They aren't, it's a straight clipping of the top 5% that that shaping appliance sees.
There are no capacity issues on C+W LLU.
This made me chuckle:

Nice definition of unlimited there!
I'll get that mentioned. It obviously shouldn't say that - and doesn't here http://www.virgin.net/allyours/whyvirgin/vstuff.html
