Upgrading this house soon and getting it took out of my mothers as im not payinf 2 50mb bills, so shes going down to 20 as i go up to 50

Wasnt around for her install so anyone know the total price on the day of installation

And estimated monthly bill

Currently I dont pay the 11 quid for a phone line so my 20mb comes in at 37 quid

But If I took the phone line with this + XXL broadband what would my bill be With and Without the Line in, Got told it would work out cheaper if i got a line :)

Maybe nothing to worry about, but ....

Do check the forum for no evidence that your part of Newcastle has 50 mbps problems. A running theme here is that people have upgraded to 50 mbps and never got near the 50 for whatever reasons, including oversubscription. See the below link regarding Mancheste which I'd guess applies to Newcastle as well.
http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/33655753-manchester-the-honeymoon-period-over-then.html

If there is bad 50 mbps experience in your area and your 20 mbps service is excellent, there's potential reason not to change.

Also, I haven't found a way on VM's web site of not taking their damn phone line with their broadband service. Maybe I'm wrong but .....

EDIT: I was wrong. It's the TV service where I don't see a way of avoiding a VM phone line.

You can take any broadband package as a standalone package, it just costs more.;)

If you follow the buying links through from the above link, there's no mechanism to remove the £11 phone line. Nor is there any price quoted without the phone line.

Where am I going wrong?

Click here http://allyours.virginmedia.com/?buspart=Portal_HP_topnav_1_1 then 50Mb for £18 and it says £35 without a phoneline.

Yeah - I stand corrected. It's the TV service that appears to force you to have a VM phone line. Still not good and the way they show the pricing is disreputable because, unless I'm wrong again(!) with no choice the combined price should be the headline price.

You do not have to have the Virgin Media phoneline unless you want it!

You can have standalone TV, called TV Solus or you can have a bundle containing only TV and BB.

Just go here and you can pick XXL broadband and a TV package of your choice http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/bundles/triple-builder.html

You see the difficulty with the VM web site. It's constructed so that real choice is the last (and obscure) option.

I'm not stupid - but if I can't easily find that stuff and the links from the TV choice I posted don't allow you to remove the VM phone line and so arrive at an unbundled price, it's a poor show by VM.

Personally I would always ring up in order to get the best deal possible.

I'm giving up on this one which is spreading across a number of threads. Clearly there are routes to bundles without a phone but you have to work unreasonably hard to get there.

No sales web site should be like that. But I'm beaten on this one (bundled phone) with my head held high.
