Last night at around 8pm I lost my internet connection. I did the usual stuff, rebooted everything, check the modem config page and whilst the cable modem syncs it gets stuck waiting for an IP address from the DHCP server. The odd thing is that my brother lives about 50 yards down the road doesn't have the same problem.

I have rang virginmedia support, the nice lady said that my modem seems fine and that the problem is a local one that had not yet been reported. She said she would escalate the problem further. She even agreed to refund me £5 as I had rang on my mobile.

The details are as follows:

Area: Warwick CV34***
Modem: Ambit E08C013.00 (little 4"sq black box supplied by VM)
Connection: Ethernet
Router: Linksys WRT54G (used only for 100Mbps wired port connection)
Package: Broadband XL
Old NTL customer, not C&W

Has anybody else had the same problem? I find it odd that my brother can connect fine when I can't, and I am pretty sure we are both supplied by the same cabinet. Oh well, would be nice to know if its just me :)
