We already had a VM cable in the house from a previous VM installation, which we had problems with and in the end got fedup with VM and moved to Bethere

So I had a difficult choice to make

Either I could have Bethere's "upto 24mb" for £36 a month (including BT Line rental), or, I could get "upto 50mb" for £39 a month, with phone rental.

I'm glad I switched.

The installation was done in about 30 minutes and the server is nice and fast, to.
I can download from VM's gamefiles section at about 4.5-4.9MB/sec and websites in general seem to load a fair bit quicker.

The only negative point I want to mention is, I didn't get the free wireless N adapter which was advertised on the website, heh.

Want to change your package?

Okay, here's where you can change the size of your Virgin Media broadband package. Just pick the option you'd like from the list below. Then click 'Go' to confirm your details, agree to the terms and conditions, and complete your order.

Just so you know, if any special offers or promotions apply, they will show up on your bill.

Pick your new package

Your existing package is Virgin Media broadband Size XL . This is a £37 per month subscription.

Upgrade to Virgin Media broadband: Size XXL £52 per month subscription

WHY am I getting charged so much more than everybody else ? :'( Virgin Sucks BIG TIME!!!! They care more about new customers than their current ones, been with them since they were NTL, screwed over so badly!

They are some high downstreams levels you have there.

Yea, so it should be between -6dBmV and +15dBmV right?
Will the high downstream power level effect the connection at all?

I had problems with a high downstream powerlevel, a person on the newsgroup said although the modem can handle -15 to +15dBmV, it should really be within -5 to +5dBmV, and sent me an engineer, who stuck an attenuator on my line.

So my advice is that its worth contacting the newsgroups.

One more question..
How long after you order are you supposed to get a welcome pack of some sort?
The only letters I've had in the post are the direct debit confirmation and the letter from BT about the changing companies
I've not had anything else? heh

Ok, last responses I had, were

Yes these levels are way too high, can you let me know when in the next 7
days you will be available? Our daily timeslots are 8am-12noon, 12noon-4pm
and 4pm-7pm.

Hi Adam,

I have checked your account and it would appear there is repull scheduled
for your connection. This should rectify this issue so an additional
engineer will not be required.

I have a feeling the downstream power being high is causing my net to be somewhat..flakey
I notice tonight some websites won't load at all and after a few refreshes, they finally load. (I get Finding site.com... and then a timeout.)

Ok I'm a bit confused now
Two guys came round yesterday and started yanking cable out of the ground outside our house
Then they drove round the corner to the green hub
They left a largeish reel of black cable in our garden and haven't been seen since
heh
I assume they repulled the cable? We we supposed to have been switched to a Virgin telephone line to.

This is what you get for starting a thread entitled 'Switched back to Virgin - Thumbs up' ;)

Heh yea
Shortly after I posted this a VM tech showed up to lay the cable from the street to my outside wall, but I have to wait for another tech to install the actual phone stuff
He/She is due to arrive "at some point"

Oh and I finally got my welcome letter, although I'm a little confused
According to the account card which is stuck on the letter, my username AND password is "Byuser"
What the heck? heh

I've noticed that a good line to take with VM is 'wait and it all shall be clear'. My stuff came through in dribs and drabs.
