Are these figures "bad"?

My 20MB BB rarely gets over 16MB. Have noticed a very few TV glitches (picture can sometimes break up very slightly for a second or so)

Downstream Receive Power Level : -16.8 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 27.1 dB

Upstream transmit Power Level : 55.0 dBmV
Upstream Mini-Slot Size : 2

Cable is new to me...

Yep they're bad.

Downstream Receive Power Level : -16.8 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 27.1 dB
Both too low.

Upstream transmit Power Level : 55.0 dBmV
Bordering on too high.

You forgot something Mags

You may need to call in to have them run some tests on your connection.

Faults on 151 option 2 from your Virgin Media Phone. It's absolutely free.

Or call 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line.

It's definitely not, I'd book a tech for you as it will cause you issues.

Thanks for the replies folks!

It was obvious "Dave" did not know what he was talking about. He was flustered and a little terse and got me to read out to him a load of guff from the modem stats pages that obviously had no bearing on the issue.

I'll try to get a tech booked but really do not want to use anything other than my home 'phone to call them as I do not wanna rack up more than the £16 I already have in ringing VM regarding my repull and install issues

:td:

The repull should correct those levels.

AFAIK the has already happened. Damaged cables.

It had to happen before I could get installed, that is partly why it took so long!

on in an hour!

Well there lies a tale...

As I say my cable was repulled a few days prior to my install.

Had a visit from a VM Tech on Monday and after checking things at the box and tweaking things as much as he could he said that it looks like the repull crew used the wrong type of cable...

Looks like I will be waiting until mid October for (I guess) a repull of the repull!

Ouch

:eh:Ouch

Indeed.

Although my neighbour told me this morning that someone(s) from VM were out the front of our flat drilling yesterday and when I went to put out the rubbish I could see that the thick cable running from the CATV "manhole" had been pulled out from where it had been cemented in.

Here's hoping this is in preperation for the repull of the repull and maybe it will happen quicker than expected. Who knows...

Noticed more glitching on the TV picture last night, more than usual, so perhaps them fiddling with the cabling yesterday has caused this extra interference (or whatever the tech term is?).

Hmm, why would they carry the wrong kind of cable in the first place?

Oh well, good luck to you.

Hi. I should explain a bit more...

It's because I'm a fair bit from the "main feed", it's at one end of the road and I'm at the other. Given this the repull crew should have used a better quality/type of cable.

Thanks

Mike
