Me thinks someone is going to have a telling off - Unless of course he was ill and collapsed!

Why is there a blue lead going into the generator in the closeup but not in the other pic?

Zoom the picture a bit, I'd say it's there but just very small and out of focus at that range

Tech won't get in to trouble ...looks like a power outage and he's backing up the cab with the generator until the power company get there... some network techs work very long hours and I bet just sitting by a cab is boring! :)

It is very boring sitting around when you are powering up the cabs :).

Yep the engineer has a generator on the cab. I have done that in the past and had been there all day then handing over to another engineer in the evening to let him carry on with it. You cannot leave the generator alone or some scummy type will nick it :).

But if your asleep facing the other way what are the chances that scummy type will have his hands on it before you can react :erm:

Typical Daily Mail story too! Yuk!

One office worker said: ‘No wonder things take so long to get done around here.

‘He didn’t seem aware that everyone was watching him and that nearby dozens of other labourers were hard at work.’

The poor guy had probably been up half the night!

I live in Winnersh. His bosses would have to drive past him to leave the area! Or walk past him to catch their train!

Brilliant!
Maybe that explains the wait I had?! :-)

He won't be in trouble.

A Virgin Media spokesman told Mail Online the company was 'happy' the worker took an 'opportunity to rest'.

He said: 'The engineer in question had been monitoring our cable network overnight whilst work was being conducted adjacent to our network.

'The health and safety of our staff is important to us and we are happy that he took the opportunity to rest as best as he could whilst remaining on site to ensure our customers' services weren't affected.'

Glad to hear it, looks like it's now the office workers in trouble :)

‘He didn’t seem aware that everyone was watching him and that nearby dozens of other labourers were hard at work.’

Something which is largely irrelevant. If he's been sent there to do electrical work in the cabinet, then he is not going to be doing other manual work. Indeed, he may be forbidden from doing certain kinds of manual work due to health and safety laws.

The same comment could be leveled at me. I slept soundly this morning, while nearby, a few council workmen were busy collecting the bins. Of course, I didn't help. I am not a bin man.

I would like to point out that yes he is sleeping on the job which i cant excuse BUT My husband works VERY long hours for this company they hardly if ever get breaks they he will leave the house at 6in the morning and not return till 10oclock at night sometimes later he is always tired due to the amount of work and the hours he has to work and let me also point out they work 6 DAYS A WEEK!!! starting and coming home at the most silly times, so people please have some thought as these people as they are keeping us working spare a thought for these men who are working while you are sleeping then read this story again!!! and show some thought

Brilliant! :D

I think we night workers should start phoning Daily Mail journalists at 3.30 in the morning and shout down the line at them; "Get-up and do some work, you lazy b*****ds" - see how they like it. Prats.

What if he wasn't asleep but was suffering from some kind of illness?
He could in fact of been collapsed rather than sleeping.Granted the sleeping angle is more likely given his pose but still...

Our intrepid photographer obviously wasn't bothered by that thought!

I'm just wondering how fast the Police or Virgin would respond if he was confronted with a load of yobs that wanted to steal the gen anyway.

Yes worth a chuckle but yep the guy probably needs 20 winks as well.
