im currently on the old m broadband but got the free 2mb - 10mb upgrade online however, i just noticed that broadband L is £5 per month with £11 line rental. im paying £20 per month and the £11 line rental so thot chuff it an foned to ask if this was correct! spoke to some moody cXXt an he told me that it was a deal for new customers or existing customers who dont have a phone line only and that if i chose to upgrade to large (i dont know how i can upgrade from 10mb to 10mb but ok ) i would have to pay £2 extra and that this was a special offer as it should be £5 more!
i cant see on the website that this is a new customer or existing customer (without a phone) deal! these seem to justbe the standard rates! cant get my head round it even the xl bb is £2 cheaper and thats double wot i have!!
advice please???
BB M (for those on it) + Phoneline is £23 a month - which Virgin would class as £12 a month for the broadband (£20 - £8 discount)
BB L on the website is £5 for the first 3 months and then £14 a month after that when you have a phoneline - so £25 a month after the 3 month offer expires, so £2 more.
BB XL + Phoneline is £31 a month after any 3 month offer - so £8 more
So you are paying less than all the other broadband services

my bb m and phone line is £31 in total as the bb is £20 and the phone line is £11 so im still paying over the odds going by wot uve said.
In that case you can upgrade to XL for free

but when i asked the rep on the fone he said they would charge me £2 more basically for them to change the m to a l on my bill. non of this makes sense to me as their pricing is all over the place!
Please post your advance charges in full so we can see what is going on

Line Rental £11.00
Talk Evening & Weekends £3.45
Phone, TV & BB Bundle Saving £-9.50
TV Size: X L £23.00
Broadband Size: M £20.00
sky sports collection £19.00
So you are not overpaying as you have a £9.50 bundle discount - £8 of which is for broadband as I said earlier. So you are paying £12 for BB M and £66.95 in total for your services
If you were on BB L, TV XL, Talk Evenings and Weekends and Sky Sports it would cost you £68.95 - £2 extra as you were originally told.
This would show on the bill as:
BB L £25
Phoneline £11
TV XL £23
Talk Evenings and Weekends
BB TV and Phone Saving £12.50
Sky Sports £19
= £68.95
Virgin would advertise this as
BB L £14
Phoneline £11
TV XL £21.50
Talk Evenings and Weekends £3.45
Sky Sports £19
= £68.95

thanks mate just find their pricing a bit strange.

Your not alone with this  Even some VM employees struggle with the pricing system and so far I think only BenMcr 'fully' understands it :o:

BenMcr is the shining light on this matter on the Virgin forum too. Of course (and I don't blame him or criticise him) he steers clear of my persistent point on the Virgin forum that pricing transparency from VM is what everybody wants. I reckon this obscure billing approach makes people think that VM are not wholly honest because their bill doesn't show the headline pricing.

I wholeheartedly agree, VM's current price lists are needlessly complicated to the average customer, especially the broadband packages.
As much as I dislike Sky if you go onto their website working out a package and what you'll pay each month is all totted up for you, simples.
This is a system VM would do well to copy on their website.

Interesting thread..
Im currently paying
Description Date/period Amount
T V Size: X L 03 August - 02 September £23.00
Payment Handling Charge 03 August - 02 September £5.00
B B & T V Bundle Saving 03 August - 02 September £-7.50
Broadband Size: L 03 August - 02 September £25.00
Total £45:50
Im curious about what I could expect to pay if I upgraded to XXL BB - if it was cheap enough Id even consider V+ to get the HDMI connection
I have a HTPC so have always considered V+ a waste as I dont think I have ever recorded 1 single cable TV program in 7 yrs as a customer, but if it doesn't add much to the bill then it might be worth it for the HDMI alone...
I also read somewhere else of people getting a discount if the had a virgin credit card - anyone confirm this?
Thx
I think it's £64.50 for XXL Broadband and XL tv - plus £5 for Non-DD
I'm pretty sure it would be cheaper to get a phoneline with it - even if you don't use it - and you would then pay £60.50
