Hi all

Yesterday i was having problems with the internet.. Im on 20Meg cable.
anyway after watching the lights cycle only ever getting to send before starting again i decide to phone VM.

After spending 30 Mins on the phone last night to vm tech support (150) they tell me there is a problem in my area and try again in 30 mins.. Well the problem started at 7.30am and this was at 18.00 last night.. Oh well i will wait and see I beleive it would take them that long to fix it... well it did not work last night and again this morning its still not working..

Well i was fed up so had a look at the modem and their is an attenuator on the back a -10db one.. So i took it off and turn on the modem... It now connects but should i leave this on or not..

Downstream Value
Frequency 331000000 Hz

Signal To Noise Ratio 40.8 dB

Power Level 7.4 dBmV
The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading

Upstream Value
Channel ID 1
Frequency 18800000 Hz
Power 33.5 dBmV

Anyway does all this make sence and look ok..

You have a connection and your power levels are fine, the upstream is a little bit low but what are your speeds like at the moment.

thanks for the reply..

It seams stable but its not a quick i think..
Speed test says 6.9Meg Down and 0.38 Up i know it can be scatty at the best of times.. but should be 20Meg

i remember the attenuator was stuck on as i was haveing loads of probelms and the engener said that there was too high a signal (i think, was 3 years ago ish).. this was after going through 3 or 4 modems in 6 months.

Well i hope the Problem get sorted if there was one in Bristol. Or maybe the tech bloke on the phone just wanted to get rid of me.

Thanks
Rob

Network issues are not resolved in 30 Mins, call tomorrow at 8am you'll have more chance of getting a Liverpudlian or Scottish agent.

Not quite it is called answering a post but not seeing that you got there first, slightly obvious to most people but not you.

Which is why I have now removed the said double posting

From the paste of your modem config page I'd say you have a motorola modem, so you won't be able to tell from that.
Quick call to 150 or 151 they will tell you :)
